On July 22, 2014, Ethereum officially launched its ICO with a fundraising rate of 1 BTC for 2000 ETH. The ICO was permissionless, had no venture capital involvement, and no lock-up period. A decade later, 1 BTC now exchanges for less than 20 ETH, indicating that ETH has appreciated over 100 times relative to BTC in the past ten years.
